A "Special" JNF IN-35 found! was created by Andrea-B
Hi guys,
I bought this JNF from ebay. I was missing one in my collection.
Is from Munich Germany and It is now arrived at my home.
Looking it a second time I must say that it has "special things" on it.
Then I noticed that it is similar with the JNF NEUHIERL KdF WAGEN PROTOTYPE. Except that for the interior design.

This is standard version and had manual steering. License plate registration is “IN-35.”
“MADE IN GERMANY” lettering printed on the interior insert can be seen through the split window.
The color is dark blue. The rubber tires are slightly larger and have a different tread pattern than the rubber tires found on the cable steering versions. The chassis stamping differs in several areas from other versions, just like the JNF prototype.

Ok, I think it is from 1938 - 45 period but could it be a early prototype or trade show example?
Maybe it could be the first with right interior design? Maybe it was produced right after what you posted on the site.
Let me know what you think about! I need help, thanks.
I post photos to see better.

HI Andrea,
very interesting!
Do you know that I have this particular toy in my hands while I visited their toyshop in April in Munich?
And I did not realize that this is a different version, so I did not buy it!

I will ask Bob ALSO to take a close look!

Really? This is interesting.
Yes looks like a different version. Just not a regular JNF VW.

If this could be a prototype or trade show example would make me very happy.
A unique piece in my collection.

Please let me know what Bob think about, Thanks

Hi Andrea,

I believe that your JNF Split VW is an early production of the JNF NEUHIERL KdF WAGEN VW IN-35 listed on the site.
Yours does have the chassis markings of the JNF NEUHIERL KdF WAGEN VW IN-35 PROTOTYPE but the newer interior
of the production model. The key hole area on the JNF body has a thin metal area that I have seen several that have
been broken. I think that your was broken and repaired by cutting the broken metal away. The repair is not the sign
of a metal variation of the body. Indeed, you have a special JNF Split VW.

Thank you Bob for your answer.

After my research, I have something to show you.
if you think, the first appearance of the "definitive" KDF is on May 26, 1938.
3 cars, identified as V303.
From the photos you can easy see the interior of the cabriolet. If you look, there are striped leather seats.
The JNF NEUHIERL PROTOTYPE has the same interior look.

But when the official brochure came out in 1938-39, it is possible to see that the interiors will be different from the cabriolet.

I could guess that maybe first JNF did the prototype (that is listed on the site) with striped leather seats and after looking the KDF brochure, they had to change interiors and made a second prototype.
This could be the one that I bought. A prototype with the same chassis + wheels of the first prototype BUT with correct interior design.

What you think about? Please let me know.
Thanks
