Mr. Falaceu Álvaro Pires founded the company Leirisense Plástico (FLP Fábrica Leiriense de Plásticos) in 1955 and manufactured utensils, toys and sleeves for agriculture. Despite not knowing a single word of English and hardly speaking French, he travelled regularly around Europe to look for new products for his factory. Most probably he also based the VW on the models made by Tudor Rose and Plastic Gilac. He sold Leiriense Plástico in 2000 to the Plasteuropa group.

Soft plastic body with cut out windows and a VW emblem on the front hood. No chassis or bumpers. Black plastic wheels clipped to the body. The inside of the roof is marked with a triangle, “FLP” inside and “LEIRIA 76.” The factory was located in the town of Leiria, Portugal and was founded by .
