DS PLASTICS was founded in 1953 by Mr Dirk Schouw, who also owned a factory for sweets & candy. In the early 1950s, he started to produce small plastic toys for himself to add to the sweets & candy to make it more attractive for children. At the end of 1953 he decided to focus on producing plastic toys only. This business grew to be the largest of this kind in Holland. DS is named after the founder/former owner: Dick Schouw.
DS PLASTICS produced simple give away toys for many manufacturer brands, like De Gruyter, Remia, and many others. It might also have been produced for foreign manufacturers, but that is unsure. Fact is that the moulds used by DS Plastics probably also were used by some German toy manufacturers.
