Augustine Marchesini established in 1908 a toy company in Bologna, Italy, named MARCHESINI AMBO. AMBO is short for Augustine Marchesini Bologna. It was one of the oldest companies producing tin plate toys in Italy.
Tin body with cut out windows and good details of a 1950 era VW Transporter Bus and VW Cargo bus. Details include Door seams, front VW emblem, indents for headlights and side air louvers. Tin chassis with friction motor, plastic rims and rubber tires. Front tin metal bumper only, no rear bumper. Chassis stamped with the MARCHESINI - AMBO insignia. Sold in a box of 12 different type of vehicles to include the VW Bus and Oval Window VW. Some of the buses featured a cut out rear window and some only had indentations for the rear window in the metal.
