Steiff GmbH is a German-based toy company known for its high quality plush toys and bears. It was founded in 1880 by Margarete Steiff, who was later assisted by her brother Fritz. The Steiff's nephew Richard joined in 1897 and gave the company an enormous boost in popularity by creating the teddy bear in 1902. In 1907, Steiff manufactured 974,000 bears, and has been increasing its output ever since. Lesser known is that in the 1950’s and 1960’s, STEIFF also produced toy cars, like the VW bus.

This is a very rare example of a Volkswagen Crew Cab toy. The body is made of plastic and is very detailed. White plastic steering wheel, door handles, VW front emblem and bumpers. Headlights and license plate number  MST 0 4928. The chassis of the VW Crew Cab is made of wood. Rubber tires with metal axles attach to the chassis and there front wheel steering. Too often these STEIFF VW Crew Cab toys have suffered from expanding wet wood and the plastic body is broken.
