MASUDAYA founded in 1928, Japan, was the manufacturer of this Volkswagen convertible toy. It was a better idea after the post war period to market the Japanese MASUDAYA toys in the USA under the name of MODERN TOYS.
A very nice tin plate Volkswagen Convertible with the top down. Tin body is painted and there are metal trim pieces that include headlights, front hood strip with VW hood emblem, side body trim and a pair of rear view mirrors mounted on the front quarter panels. The metal windshield with clear plastic insert. The metal folded down top with lithographed seam lines and buttons attaches to the body. The tin interior has a lithograph design detailing the dashboard, seats, door panels and a plastic steering wheel finishes off the details. The tin chassis, with shiny tin bumpers, is painted black and has no motor. Plastic molded driver figure.
