Chassis stamped with or without was created by Andrea-B
By chance you know the reason why some toys from the same brand / manufacturer have Chassis stamped with or without "Made in..."??
For example Distler, some have the writing below "Made in" and others not.
Are both versions original?
Thanks

I think that both of the DISTLER chassis with or without the "Made In" are both original and have no idea why they were made that way ??

Yes for sure they are both original.

However Distler's box had "Made in Germany" stamped.
I'm wonder to know if all those pre-war Distler were sold with a box.
Because it could be that those VW without boxes needed the "made in" under the model.

I saw in the site that you or Jozsi own a KdF distler with the box. Is possible to know if under that model there is "Made in" on Chassis? Thanks
(That would be a proof of what I say).

My DISTLER KdF Wagen with an original box is without “Made In Germany.”
I do not know how ALL the DISTLER KdF Wagens were sold back then, with or without a box.
I do not think there was a requirement of the German toy manufacturers, during the 1938-1943 time period, to stamp their toys with "Made In Germany." After the metal chassis is stamped, formed and before painting, it would be an additional step to stamp the chassis with "Made In Germany." Besides, DISTLER did not even stamp their name on the VW, which I would think would be more important? If only these toys could talk !!
