INFO for CONTI AUTOPISTA (SW) was created by Andrea-B
Hi there, I'm writing from Italy about some info I found.

I think 99% that those cars used for CONTI AUTOPISTA are Lancia and NOT Volkswagen.
I say this because the first imported VWs in Italy were from 1951 while CONTI set is from 1947-1948.
I think they are Lancia Aprilia or Lancia Ardea, that were common in Italy around late 40s.
And if you look at details in the back, you can see they are matching.

So I suggest to remove CONTI from Split VW site.

Hi Andrea, you most probably are right! We will doublecheck with our contacts at VW in Wolfsburg as they initiallly mentioned that it is a VW split beetle….

I have 3 of these cars plus the extremely rare set. They are based on the Lancia not the VW. 100 % sure.

I tend to agree with you Bernard, but VW claims it is a beetle…. strange….

I tend to Lancia as well. Beetles were not very common in Italy those days
