The Company of BLUE-BOX was founded in 1952 in Hong Kong by Mr. Peter Chan Pui. In the early years they made dolls, but later successfully copied toy cars from Matchbox, Dinky, Wiking and Corgi, to name a few.
One piece plastic body with cut out windows and fair details of front and rear hood, door seams and rear oval window. The bumpers with guards were molded in the body and there were air louvers under the rear oval window. The plastic chassis, which was usually the same color of the body had black plastic tires on plastic axles. Chassis marked NO. 7433, VOLKSWAGEN, MADE IN HONG KONG. The plastic Oval VW Sedan came in a colorful box that was printed "BLUE-BOX,” the number 7433 or No.13 and Plastic Toy Series - Volkswagen. The VW was part of a series of the small scale cars. Also found under the name of BENLEY (in a plastic pouch) or ALDEN. Note: There is a copy of the BLUE-BOX Oval VW produced under the name of BLUE-BOW.
