Shortly after the World War II, Mr Dirk Schouw in the town of 's-Heerenberg, The Netherlands, started a factory for sweets & candy. In 1950, he started to produce small plastic toys for marketing purposes to add to the sweets & candy to make it more attractive for children. It went really well and he was asked by other manufacturers of sweets, but also other food products, to produce those small cars for them also. At the end of 1953 he decided to focus on producing plastic toys only and he founded DS PLASTICS. This business grew to be the largest of this kind in Holland. DS is named after the founder/former owner: Dirk Schouw.
