LIMA S.p.A (LIMA MODELS) was a brand of mainly railway models made in Vincenza, Italy. LIMA was founded in 1946 as a parts supplier for the Italian state railway (F.S. Italia). When the railway started producing its own parts, LIMA switched its casting capability in 1948 to producing toys such as boats, trains and cars. Market pressures from superior Far Eastern products in the mid-1990s led to LIMA merging with RIVAROSSI, ARNOLD and JOUEF. Ultimately, these consolidations failed and operations ceased in 2004 and Hornby Railways acquired LIMA's assets thereafter.

Version V1 of the LIMA MODELS Oval VW is a plastic body with cut out windows and fair details of front and rear hood and door seams. Molded front and rear bumpers, round horn grilles, VW hood emblem, trim and handle and taillights. Rear oval window is open with 15 air louvers. Aluminum chassis with black plastic wheels. Chassis has two metal tabs at each end that bend over the front and rear bumpers to secure the chassis to the body. No markings. Version V2 is similar without a metal chassis.
