This diecast metal body Oval Window Volkswagen with cut out windows has good details of front and rear hood, door seams and rear window air louvers. Originally sold for 39 cents (see photo) in a variety of stores in the 1950s. No chassis and the axles and wheels secured to the diecast body pillars. Chassis marked TOOTSIETOY – CHICAGO 24. During the diecast process, the metal flashing in the windows of the body should break free during the vibration cycle. Some VWs made it through production cycle without the rear oval window flashing breaking out and are rare, sought after and seldom found.
