In 1904 Christian Hausser and his sons Max and Otto founded the HAUSSER company, although it initially was named Müller & Freyer. Starting from 1912 the company was renamed into O&M Hausser. They carried the trade name Elastolin. In the 1930's the company moved to Neustadt bei Coburg. Like all toy producers, they had to stop production in 1943 by order of the NAZI regime and started again in 1947.

A very nice set garage set, called Central Garagen or Gross-Garage, made by O&M HAUSSER. The cardboard box, which was wrapped in plastic, serves as a row of garages. It measures 185mm x 87mm x 20mm. Enclosed in the garage box, are several paper traffic signs. The VW Split Beetle came together with 2 Mercedes cars and a VW Bus T1, but it possibly was in different combinations also. The VW split model shows details of doors, VW emblem and air louvers. No visible markings except some had a reverse 4 under the front hood.. The black plastic wheels and axles are snapped onto the body on poles protruding from the body.

The HAUSSER plastic split window beetle appeared to have been sold on other plastic wrapped card boards also. Probably even more variations?
