The ABC Verlag Georg Reulein, Nürnberg, Germany produced a game set called ‘Mit dem KdF Auto durch Großdeutschland‘. There were 6 KdF Wagen VW game pieces in the game set and the game box measured 26X39cm, the game board itself measured 64X50cm.
The game came in 2 versions. The earliest version shows a map of Germany prior to the start of Worldwar 2. Pictured on the map is a drawing of Volkswagen factory; the drawing evidently was made before it was known how the factory was going to look like. The game pieces used were the Fröha gamepieces (see the Fröha listing). The one piece elongated body with wheels was made from wood chips, glue and painted in several dull colors. Details of the windows, front and rear hood, headlights and taillights can be seen.
The second version has been issued after the start of the war in September 1939. The map on the gameboard and cover now includes occupied Austria and ‘Sudetenland’, the part of Czechoslovakia, where many German speaking people lived. The drawing of the Volkswagen factory was also changed to resemble better the actual design of the factory. The REULEIN KdF Wagen game set originally sold for 2.50 to 3.50 RM (Reichsmarks).
