The tin plate VW Bus is lithographed in two beautiful and different designs with people’s faces in the windows. A VW Ambulance Kastenwagen with a blue light on the roof and a VW Kombi with a cargo top on the roof. The tin body consists of a three piece design with a top piece, lower nose panel, a wrap around side and rear panel. The bodies are lithographed with a front VW emblem, headlights, taillights and door seams. The chassis is tin plate that is painted black and has a rear drive friction motor. The wheels are plastic rims with rubber tires and metal hub caps. The bumpers appear to be clear sealer over bare metal or painted white. The ambulance (AMBULANS) has a rear license plate of 34 AA 512 and the Kombi rear license plate is 34 AB 417. Both VW Busses have the HILMAR name in the lithograph design in the rear section. Besides being an unusual toy, the side vents are angled instead of square with the body. Just to note, there is a red fire VW Bus version with a ladder on the roof. Also a green and white Police (POLIS) version with a red plastic searchlight on the roof.
