Wilhelm Hennecke Karussellfabrik, located in Uelzen, Germany was a manufacturer of carousels. The company produced the first carousel in 1923 and was closed down in 1974. Over the years, the animals, cars, motorcycles, sleighs, etc. that were on the carousel ride have become very collectable. The cars in the carousels represented those cars of the time when the carousel was manufactured. In 1954, HENNECKE introduced a Volkswagen Cabrio to their carousel ride. The Cabrios were made out of wood, painted, detailed with small parts and were a pair next to each other on the carousel. Only six of the HENNECKE Cabrio VWs are known to exist. Two of them have been restored to original looking, two green colored ones are in original good condition and the other two are still being used on a carousel ride. Those two have been updated and painted in vivid colors of blue and yellow.
