A suitable location for the production factory was decided upon in northern Germany, on a twenty square mile parcel of land near the 14th century Wolfsburg Castle. The GRUNDSTEINLEGUNG des VOLKSWAGENWERKES or Cornerstone Ceremony for the location of the new factory was held in the newly formed town of Stadt des KdF-Wagens on May 26, 1938.
