Just a very brief recap, at the end of WWII, the four Allied Powers of the time divided Germany into four occupational zones. They were the US, British, French and Russian zones. The city of Berlin which was located in the Russian zone was also divided into the American, British, French Sectors (West Berlin) and Russian Sector.
